Veterinary Prescriber

Industry:

Medical, Veterinary

Services:

SEO

Duration:

Nov 2022 - July 2024 (21 months)

Trigger Date:

September 2025

The Challenge

Veterinary Prescriber turned to the SMP team in search of help getting their website to perform better from a business perspective, and to increase its visibility in search. Their goals for us from a business standpoint were to increase overall traffic and event counts on their website (getting more people onto the site and interacting with it more). On the search visibility side, our objectives were to increase the overall number of keywords ranking and improve the position of ranking keywords, with a particular focus on increasing the number of keywords ranking on page 1 of the search results.

The Strategy

Our approach to this project would start with a thorough evaluation of the current situation of the Veterinary Prescriber website and the content on it, looking specifically at website structure and technical SEO issues. From there, we would develop a precise plan of action intended to fix any issues found during the evaluation.

There was a clear SEO focus to the goals set, so we knew ahead of time that we would need to source and assign relevant keywords to each page on the website, and then optimise that page to deliver superior SEO. Preparing for and then carrying out this work, therefore, also became an important pillar for our strategy.

The Execution

We’re pleased to say that things proceeded as expected in terms of the work that needed to be done on the Veterinary Prescriber site.

The onsite SEO team focused on evaluating content, as well as researching and assigning keywords to pages in the early stages of the project, before setting about optimising the site’s existing pages for the keywords assigned to them, and then settling into providing a steady stream of new onsite texts that were well aligned with the user intent of those visiting the Veterinary Prescriber site.

At the same time, our offsite SEO team worked on building as many high-quality backlinks as they could, and removing any poor-quality ones that had already been made, while our development team focused on fixing any technical issues that were found during our initial site evaluation.

Each of these tasks will, in its own way, also have contributed towards our goal of increasing search visibility for the client’s website.

The Results

By the time the project ended in July 2024, we’re delighted to say that we achieved all of the goals set for it – let’s take a closer look at some aspects of our performance now.

Our stated goals included increasing the overall number of keywords the site was ranking for, and in particular, to earn more page-1 rankings. The two screenshots below show that we achieved both of these aims, because:

  • We had 302 keywords ranking on page 1 at project start, and 1551 at project close (a 414% increase).
  • We started with 3,282 keywords ranking somewhere in the top 100 places, and closed the project with nearly eleven thousand ranking keywords (an increase of 233%)

In addition, the Veterinary Prescriber team also wanted us to bring more traffic and activity to their website. Again, we delivered for them here, as the screenshots below show:

  • Overall event count increased by over 600% between the start and end points of the project.
  • The site’s number of Total Users had also increased by 566% during that time.
  • The purple line graph also demonstrates visually how traffic coming to the site had really taken off by the end of the project (marked by the vertical dotted line in July 2024).
