The Challenge

JAG Construction, a home builder based in Asheville, NC, wanted to strengthen its digital presence in a highly competitive local market. Their goals were to drive more clicks and expand keyword visibility. That meant not only getting more terms onto page one but also improving ranking positions across the board.

The challenge was twofold: the niche was already competitive in the Asheville area, and JAG Construction’s website had a low number of pages to work with. Limited content meant limited opportunities to rank, so we also needed to expand the site’s reach strategically while staying relevant to the brand’s services.


The Strategy

We approached this campaign with a mix of local SEO optimisation and smart content planning. We started with extensive keyword research, focusing on location-based terms and phrases with clear user intent. The strategy included reoptimising existing pages for stronger alignment with target keywords, creating new content designed to funnel users towards service pages, and developing informational resources to build topical authority.

Alongside content improvements, we tackled technical SEO issues, built a backlink profile to increase the site’s authority, and carried out competitor research to identify gaps we could use. Every element of the strategy was designed to make the site more visible, trustworthy, and effective at drawing in potential clients.

The Execution

Where one didn’t already exist, we created new pages specifically to target priority keywords, giving the site more surface area to rank with (and where a page did already exist, we optimised that page for the keyword).

Solid keyword research underpinned the entire process — ensuring each page was optimised for the right terms and contributed to the overall SEO goals for the project. At the same time, the backlinking plan we’d developed in the strategy phase was enacted to help strengthen domain authority and the site’s reputation with search engines.

The Results

Over the course of 19 months, these combined efforts helped JAG Construction build visibility in a crowded local market and create a stronger foundation for ongoing growth. Let’s take a closer look at some of the data to see the success in real-world numbers.

Two of the metrics that JAG wanted to improve through working with us were their total number of keywords ranking and in particular their number of page one rankings, as these are high-value positions in search results.

The 2 screenshots below show that we succeeded in delivering the results that the client wanted here, since:

  • By the end of the project, we had earned 13 more keyword rankings than JAG had before coming to us – that’s 6% more keywords ranking in total.
  • At project close, we also had 16 page-1 rankings, compared with 10 at project start – a 60% increase.

JAG also wanted to increase the number of clicks their site was getting through appearing in search results, and as the screenshot below shows, we did achieve that goal. Though it wasn’t one of JAG’s goals for the project, we’d also like to highlight the increase in impressions that has been recorded in the screenshot below, indicating that our work was also getting JAG pages seen more often in search results.
