The Challenge

IntelliChief’s SEO metrics had been sliding backwards for a few years, and this was hurting online visibility and business. They came to us looking for help setting things right – getting their site and their content well-optimised for SEO once more, and then ongoing support – the goal being to again increase their level of online visibility, and then maintain it at that higher level.


The Strategy

Keyword research was going to be an important first step here – we had over 200 texts to find relevant keywords for, and the main keyword for each page had to be unique.

Following this, there would need to be time for QC and implementation of our proposed changes, and all of the initial 200+ texts needed to be optimised and live within 3 months of the project start. That being the case, we put a clear schedule with a number of milestones in place, to make sure that we were always on pace to deliver this initial batch of pages on time.

At the same time, the off-site SEO team would be hard at work improving IntelliChief’s backlink profile by adding good-quality backlinks and removing poor-quality ‘toxic’ ones, while also looking for opportunities to write about IntelliChief away from their own site through SEO activities such as guest posting.

Following all of this, we would then settle into a rolling monthly SEO commitment to IntelliChief, providing a set amount of onsite and offsite work per month, and we’d monitor SEO performance and progress using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Search Atlas – taking any opportunity for improvement that these tools pointed out to us.

The Execution

As we mentioned above, the first three months of this project were meticulously timelined as follows – and we’re pleased to say that not one deadline or milestone was missed:

The first 2 weeks of the project were dedicated to keyword research, as we identified the 600+ keywords that we’d need and assigned them to the right pages.

Following this, there were 6 weeks of rewriting, as the SMP content team optimised the 200+ pages of content that IntelliChief had on the website.

After this, for 4 weeks, the SMP content and development teams worked on QC’ing and setting finished, optimised pages live on the IntelliChief website.

Throughout this time the IntelliChief team were also working hard, reviewing our proposed redrafts and either signing them off as ready to be put on the site, or providing us with extra feedback that would be used to create a further-refined redraft.

The Results

Organic Keywords & Traffic in the US, last 6 months

We began our project with IntelliChief in April 2025, so this graph is a great ‘before and after’ snapshot of where things stood before we started our work, and where they are after the first 4 months of the project.

  • You can see that IntelliChief’s organic keywords (that is, keywords ranking because the Google algorithm feels that they are relevant to a search, rather than because the position on the page has been paid for) have increased notably, almost doubling during the time we’ve been working together.
  • Likewise, you can also see that the amount of organic traffic IntelliChief has earned during that time has also gradually been increasing. (‘Organic Traffic’ refers to people arriving on the IntelliChief site as a result of running a Google search and clicking on an IntelliChief page that they’re shown in the search results)

It isn’t just the number of keywords that IntelliChief are ranking for that has improved either. Where you rank for a keyword on Google also has a profound impact on how much traffic you’re likely to get as a result of that ranking, but here again we can report progress.Being on page 1 of Google (in the top 10 organic search results) can make a big positive difference in how many people come to your site as a result of an online search, and being in the top 3 positions even more so.

As you can see from the screenshots above, before we started work, IntelliChief had 7 top 3 rankings, and 27 page-one rankings overall. After 4 months of working with us, that had increased to 11 top 3 rankings, and 109 page-one rankings overall – that’s four times the number of page 1 rankings.

What's Next

It’s a case of ‘so far, so good’ for the relationship between SMP and IntelliChief. Now that the initial large batch of texts are dealt with we have indeed settled into the regular monthly commitment mentioned earlier. We also continue to work closely with the IntelliChief team, on tasks such as further perfecting the tone and messaging of their pages while preserving the SEO elements, identifying and monitoring keywords, and developing & feeding back on potential future strategy moves.
