10 months

The Challenge

Austin Werner, a staffing and recruitment firm, needed a rapid SEO uplift to strengthen visibility and drive conversions. The targets were ambitious: increase clicks, traffic, and conversions, while improving page one rankings and keyword positions.

An additional challenge was the timeframe. At project kickoff, we were tasked with reoptimising 40 pages, providing best-practise recommendations for titles, meta descriptions, and slugs, fixing technical SEO issues, and delivering 120 high-quality backlinks – all within the first month.

The Strategy

We began with a full audit to assess which pages required rewrites, replacements, or lighter optimisation. From there, we applied best practises across SEO titles, meta descriptions, and slugs, ensuring every page was technically sound and better aligned with target keywords.

We also prioritised addressing technical SEO issues, planned a backlinking campaign to meet volume and quality targets, and conducted competitor research to identify keyword opportunities. Every action was tightly planned to fit within the limited timeframe.

The Execution

Execution relied on close collaboration and careful process management. Our SEO team worked directly with developers to implement fixes quickly, and at the same time identified and assigned relevant keywords using specialised tools, then rewrote and re-optimised pages for maximum impact.

We also ran a comprehensive array of technical scans to spot and resolve site issues, improving overall crawlability and performance. On the off-site side, we listed the business in relevant directories and delivered content-driven backlink strategies to hit the 120-link target. These combined efforts ensured the project met its ambitious goals within the set deadlines.

The Results

The Austin Werner team were looking for improvement in three key areas – traffic, conversions, and search rankings. So, did we deliver the results they wanted? Let’s take a look at the data…

Goals 1 & 2: More traffic & more conversions

The screenshot below clearly demonstrates that we successfully achieved the client’s goals. We know this because:

  • Key traffic metrics have all improved, specifically:
    • ‘Total Users’ are up by nearly 112%.
    • ‘New Users’ increasing, again by nearly 115%.
    • ‘Returning Users’ grew by 107% – so more people were coming to the site, and more of them were coming back after their first visit as well.
  • The ‘Key Events’ metric (formerly known as ‘Conversions’) increased by over 15000%!

Goal 3: Improved search engine rankings

Lastly, let’s look at how Austin Werner’s search engine rankings changed over the course of the project. The three screenshots below illustrate the project’s status at three key points: project start, one month after project start, and project close.

The data here tells us that:

    • We definitely achieved the goal of increasing their number of keywords ranking, as:
      • The total number of keyword rankings the client held had almost doubled after one month.
      • We had 350% more keywords ranking at project end than we did at project start.
    • Improving ranking positions did prove trickier though. The data here shows that:
      • Things had regressed slightly after the first month, as we’d lost most of our page one rankings.
      • However, things did recover and at the project’s end, we actually had one more page one ranking, backed up by 19 more SERP features.
